Past Events

As of September 2024, EcoStress has run four groups and is about to start its fifth group. We’ve also hosted a number of drop-in events for “alumni” of previous groups.

In 2023, CBC published a news article and video coverage of one our groups, which you can find here.

Another past event:

Art installation on climate anxiety – August 2024, by Amy Snider, EcoStress Sask co-founder:

Crushed is an art installation on the topic of climate anxiety. Amy Snider’s MFA Graduating Exhibition is a full disclosure of her own distress over the state of the environment due to the climate crisis. Through this work, she shows others that such feelings are legitimate and shared. She works towards de-stigmatizing this topic, believing that we need everyone who cares to be able to say so. Conversations are key to climate action. Connecting with others and taking action together is a much better feeling than paralyzing despair, as Amy has experienced herself. Visitors to the show were also invited to a free in-gallery event titled “Climate Anxiety Conversation and Support.” Certified counsellor Russell Charlton (co-founder of EcoStress Sask) and counseling psychologist Amber Klatt and co-facilitated a conversation on distress caused by climate change and other environmental crises. They also taught coping strategies and spoke about opportunities for support and community.
